Is Lightly-Baked, then Freeze-Dried Safe? (The Sweet Licks Standard)
Absolutely. We take safety as seriously as we take crunch. We start with USDA-inspected human-grade meats. Our unique process of light baking and freeze-drying removes moisture (where bacteria likes to hide) while keeping the nutrients intact. Plus, we lab-test our batches to ensure they are safe for your pack and ours.

Why are freeze-dried treats more expensive than dehydrated treats?
Because you are paying for nutrient-dense food, not water. According to USDA data, fresh meat, fruits, and vegetables are naturally 75-90% water*. Our process gently removes that moisture while keeping the nutrients, so a small bag of Sweet Licks packs the nutritional punch of a much larger treats. This means 1 oz of Sweet Licks is equal to about 3-4oz of fresh, whole food. No fillers, just concentrated nutrition.

What ingredients do you use? We believe in keeping it simple. Organic meats, vegetables, fruits and superfoods. Our treats are small-batch and made with high-quality, human-grade ingredients. You can view the full ingredient list on every product page.
How long do freeze-dried treats last? (Shelf Life) Because we remove the moisture, our treats have a long shelf life!
Unopened: They stay fresh for up to 18 months when kept in their sealed bag.
Opened: For maximum freshness and crunch, we recommend using them within 30-60 days of opening.
Storage Rule: Moisture is the enemy! Always reseal the bag tightly after every use to keep them from getting soft.
Where is the expiration date? We stamp every bag with a unique Batch Number. This allows us to track the exact production date and ingredients for safety.
SAFETY & CARE (Important!)
Why is there a little packet inside the bag? That is a non-toxic oxygen absorber or desiccant packet to maintain freshness. Please DO NOT let your pet eat this packet. It is a choking hazard. If ingested, please contact your veterinarian immediately.
Are these treats suitable for younger or senior fur-babies? Yes! However, freeze-dried treats can be crunchy.
Pro Tip: If your pet has sensitive teeth or is very young , you can add a little warm water to the treat to rehydrate and soften it instantly or crumble to powder as a food topper!
Can I use these as a full meal? Our treats are designed as a supplemental snack or reward, not a complete balanced diet. They are perfect for training, toppers, or "just because" love, but shouldn't replace your pet’s regular meals.
My pet has allergies. Are your treats safe? We list every single ingredient on our packaging and website. We do bake in a kitchen that processes [peanuts, wheat, eggs], so please use caution if your pet has severe sensitivities.
SHIPPING & DELIVERY
How much is shipping? We ship via USPS Ground Advantage to keep rates low. Shipping is calculated at checkout based on the weight of your order.
When will my order ship? We prep our freeze-dried batches with care! Please allow 2-4 business days for us to pack your order. You will receive an email with a tracking number as soon as it heads to the Post Office.
Where do you ship? We currently ship to the contiguous United States (Lower 48). At this time, we do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. Territories, or internationally at this time.
How will my order ship? All orders ship via Standard Ground service. We do not currently offer overnight or expedited air shipping.
A Note on Fragility: Freeze-dried items are fragile by nature. While we pack every order with extreme care to prevent damage, some settling or minor breakage may occur during shipping.
RETURN POLICY
Overview At SL Barkery, we want your pet to be 100% happy. Because our products are consumable, we have specific safety guidelines for returns.
Edible Items (Treats) For the safety of all our furry customers, we cannot accept returns or exchanges on edible items, opened or unopened. We cannot resell food products once they have left our facility.
Non-Edible Items (Merchandise) We accept returns on unused, unworn merchandise (like bandanas or accessories) within 14 days of delivery. Items must be in new condition. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs.
What if my pet doesn't like the treats? We know some pets can be picky! While we can't offer a refund for taste preferences, please reach out to us—we’d love to help recommend a different flavor for your next order.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders If your order arrives damaged or we sent the wrong flavor, please let us make it right!

We will verify the issue and send a replacement or issue a refund immediately.
